Dryer vent cleaning

Dryer vents

How often, the warning signs, the fire risk and what the local climate does to lint.

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

Once a year for most homes, and more often in a large household or one where the dryer runs most days. Humid Florida air presses lint into a dense layer, and a laundry room in the middle of the house means a long duct to the roof or an outside wall, with more places for lint to settle. If the duct has never been cleaned, there is no reason to wait.

How long does a dryer vent cleaning take?

It depends on your duct. A short run straight through an outside wall is the quickest, while a long duct from a middle closet across the attic, or one packed after years without a cleaning, takes longer. The technician gives you an estimate with the quote, and a duct cleaned every year stays quick because there is less to remove each time.

What are the signs my dryer vent needs cleaning?

There are six, and any one of them is a reason to call. Loads need a second cycle, the dryer or the laundry room gets unusually hot, you smell something scorching while it runs, lint gathers around the outside hood, the flap stays shut while the dryer runs, or the lint screen fills faster than before. Each one means air is not getting out. The dryer vent cleaning page explains all six.

Can a blocked dryer vent really cause a fire?

Yes. The U.S. Fire Administration estimates that about 2,900 residential clothes-dryer fires are reported each year, and it names failure to clean as the leading factor, in 34% of them. The NFPA adds that lint catches fire easily and that not cleaning the dryer is the leading cause of home dryer fires. These fires peak in fall and winter.

Why are dryer vents harder to keep clear here?

There are three reasons. Humidity keeps lint damp, so it clings and packs along the duct instead of blowing out. Distance matters too, because when the laundry sits in the middle of the house the duct has a long way to go through the attic, with bends where lint collects. And sun, rain and damp air wear down the outside hood until its flap sticks. Any one of them slows the exhaust, which is why a yearly cleaning is sensible around Odessa.

Do you clean dryer vents at businesses too?

Yes. We work for homes and businesses in Odessa and the communities around it. A laundromat, salon, restaurant or office with a dryer faces the same lint problem as a family home, and gets the same work. We clear the whole duct, and the quote is free with no obligation.

Air duct cleaning

Air ducts

How often, what the NADCA standard means, what happens first and how the time is set.

How often should air ducts be cleaned?

Every three to five years for most homes and businesses, and sooner with pets in the building, allergies in the family or dust at the registers. Between cleanings, keep an eye on the grilles. If dust starts building up on them, call before the five years are up.

What is the NADCA standard, and why should I care?

NADCA stands for the National Air Duct Cleaners Association, the trade body that sets out the standard for professional duct cleaning. Our air duct cleaning works to it on both the supply and the return side. A published standard gives you a yardstick for the work, and any duct cleaner should be able to answer questions about it. We also inspect the full system before bringing equipment in, so the scope is settled up front.

What happens before the cleaning begins?

An inspection of the entire duct system, before any equipment is brought inside. The technician looks at the whole thing and agrees the scope with you, so you know what will be cleaned and why before anything starts. The quote for duct work is based on that inspection, and it is free.

How long does air duct cleaning take?

The size of the system sets the time. More runs and more registers take longer, and so do ducts that are hard to reach. The inspection at the start tells you where your system falls, and you get an estimate before the work is booked.

Do you clean the air ducts in offices and shops?

Yes, homes and businesses alike, in Odessa and the nearby communities. A commercial system is inspected the same way before any equipment comes in, cleaned to the same NADCA standard, and quoted for free with no obligation.

Pricing

What changes a quote, whichever service it is

How long the duct is and where it goes

A dryer duct from a middle closet up to the roof takes longer to clear than a short one through an outside wall. For a replacement, the amount of failed duct decides the size of the job.

How much has built up

Humidity packs lint tight. A duct cleaned every year is quicker than one never touched, and an air system with dust on the registers takes longer than a clean one.

System size and access

For air duct work, the number of runs and registers sets the time, and the attic decides how hard each is to reach. The inspection measures both before you see a price.

Replacement, pricing and booking

Replacement, pricing and booking

When cleaning is not enough, what affects the price, where we work and how to book.

When should ductwork be replaced instead of cleaned?

When cleaning cannot fix it. Cleaning takes lint, dust and blockages out of ductwork that is still sound. Replacement is for ductwork that has failed, such as runs that leak or are crushed or kinked, and flexible duct that has torn or collapsed. It begins with an inspection, then the failed sections come out and new duct goes in. If the inspection shows the ducts can simply be cleaned, that is what we tell you.

How long does a duct replacement take?

It depends on how much has failed and how easy the attic is to work in. The inspection comes first, before the work is scheduled, so you know the scope and the expected time before you commit to anything.

What does it cost, and is the quote really free?

Quoting is free and commits you to nothing, whichever of the three services you need. There is no printed price list, because no two jobs match. The number moves with how long and winding the dryer duct is, how compacted the lint has become and how big and how reachable the air system is. What never changes is the free quote, the inspection before duct equipment is brought in, the full dryer run cleared and the NADCA standard for air ducts.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover Odessa and six communities near it. Keystone and Cheval are in Hillsborough County, and Land O' Lakes, Connerton, River Ridge and Moon Lake are in Pasco County. The service areas page has a page for each one. We are a service-area business, so we come to your address.

How do I book, and what happens then?

Call, or send the online form and we call you back. The office is open every day from 7 AM to 11 PM, and you can book online 24/7. For a dryer vent, the cleaning can usually be scheduled directly. For duct work, an inspection comes first, then the scope and the quote, then the cleaning or the replacement. Nothing is booked until you agree, and the quote costs nothing either way.
